Free Genealogy Sites
(plus the clues you need to find
them)
Finding clues to your ancestry is what this site is all about
and, importantly, as inexpensively as possible. Here you'll find
shortcuts and resources such as free software and free genealogy sites.
Take the time to find your way around because genealogy does take
time. Lots of it!
Finding clues, though, is just the beginning. Knowing
how to put those clues together, like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, is the key.
We all love a good mystery and this is your own
family mystery. It may not be a best seller but it will provide your with
answers about who your ancestors were and the lives they led. Genealogy is the
study of your ancestors and you'll get excited by the prospect of sifting
through the clues that determined who YOU are.
But where to start?
This site will show you where to look and how to get the most from your
ancestors clues - and they are all around. You just need guidance, our job, and
determination, your job.
Here's a sample of what's available:
- Begin online with genealogy free search capabilities without the need
for a degree in computer science.

The Websters Dictionary defines genealogy as:
"An account of the descent of a person, family or group from an
ancestor."
"The study of family pedigrees."
Genealogy, geaneology or geneolgy - whichever way you spell it, is all about
tracing your ancestors.
What makes you, you?
In a nutshell you are you because of your ancestors, and
tracing your ancestry is genealogy.
Clue #1 - To move forward, go backwards.
Sounds a bit cryptic doesn't it.
Start with you and then work your way back as far as you can
go. Your parents, their parents and so on. Write down dates of birth, marriage,
death etc. We'll get to the forms you need and how to fill them in shortly. For
the moment, just take it one step at a time and get comfortable finding your
way around.
Welcome to the start of an exciting and rewarding journey.
"I've been researching my family tree for some time now and would have
loved to have found this site in the beginning. It has brilliant links and is
very informative. I could hug you!!"
Laura Kaddey - United Kingdom
"I have tried various sites and none of them have given me the
information that you do. Fantastic! I was about to give up after collecting
over 400 names on my home based family tree. Now I am all fired up again.
Thanx a stack!!"
Sue Armitage - South Africa
"Thanks... it's about time that a site that helped in aiding a start
to tracing your family, that was legible and easy to follow, was
created."
