- This is one of the more popular genealogical sites and is the largest
commercial collection of genealogical data. It contains mainly US
records but does have data from other countries as well. It is mainly
by subscription but some databases can be accessed free.

- This is the British Ancestors Research Service site and is a 'pay for
service' site, but has some very helpful 'free' info on research in
Britain as well. Worth a look.

- A forum dedicated to British family history where you can ask

- This is probably the most comprehensive gateway on the internet. It
is a list of around 250,000 genealogical site links. The homepage will
provide you with an alphabetical list of sites to do with subjects such
as: Adoption, Asia and the Pacific, Biographies, Canada Index, Clothing
and Costumes, Tutorials and Guides, LDS Family History Centres and even
how to write your family history. If you can't find something of
interest here you are simply not trying!

you and me to submit articles. It has a search function and an index.

site is the major on-line site for all parish records. However, not all
of the material is from that source. Ancestral File and Pedigree
Resource File contain information submitted by individuals, and
therefore, may be of variable reliability. As in all cases with
genealogy check your sources.
The IGI
(International Genealogical Index)is the primary area of interest here
as it contains millions of names comprising information on births,
deaths and marriages.

Kingdom and Ireland. Genuki is a "virtual reference library of
genealogical information." The records it contains are essentially of

individuals. Genuki also functions as a gateway, as it links to every
genealogical organization in the UK with a web site.

- This is the site for The National Archives of Australia. Not for you
if you're researching convicts or early 19th century shipping. But for
any records after 1901 the site is invaluable.

- This site covers convicts sentenced at the famous, or infamous, Old
Bailey Court in London, England, between 1674 and 1834.

- This is a subscription based site but they do have a 7 day free

curosity value. Not a genealogical site as such but interesting

certain occupations in England over the centuries. Great for people
writing their own family history.

- Public Records Office for the UK. From the homepage follow the
Education link for an informal introduction to family history.

- This is the oldest on-line genealogy co-operative. A fantastic site
for anyone researching a particular surname. It has links to personal
web sites which include the name and links to any mailing list for that
name.

- An excellent site for anything to do with shipping. Included are
passenger lists, diaries and journals, ship descriptions and even
marriages at sea!
